hey hey hey

Hello everyone!
I'm just writing to tell you that I am posting my daily outfits through my tumblr from now on. I find tumblr to be much easier for me to post on than blogspot. Also, I find it a lot easier to edit the page formatting.
But I want to thank all 40+ of you guys for reading and following this blog! I've considered it a fun little side project, nothing to take too seriously. And I want to continue doing it, which is why I'm switching over.
Hope you continue to follow me! You can follow through tumblr if you already have one, and also through bloglovin'!
Thanks again guys.

Blue Jean Baby

Hey! It's my first outfit post in......
....
forever!
But before we begin, can you believe the size of the cucumbers in our yard?!
Nope, it's not a small watermelon. It's a cucumber.
I love vegetable mutants.
Dress: Walmart, Belt: Salvation Army, Shoes: Macy's, Necklace: Homemade
I found this dress the other day at Walmart. It was the only one left, and it was $5. It was meant to be.
Now...this necklace is my favorite piece of jewelry in my entire jewelry repertoire. I found the shell on the beach in North Carolina. During that week, I was looking for statement jewelry to bring back as a souvenir. While the shops there had some really beautiful pieces, nothing matched the natural simplicity of this half Molluscan shell. Once I got home, I drilled two small holes at its base and strung a hemp thread through it.
Perfection.
Hope you are still enjoying your summer! I've come to terms with the fact that in about 4 weeks...I'll be going back to school. Wow.
Ok, maybe I haven't come to terms with it yet.
But I do promise that once I go back, the outfit posts will be more frequent.
School= structure and the need to impress when I walk out the door.
Good day.

The Outer Banks

While I was in the Outer Banks, it was extremely hot and humid outside, causing my camera lens to fog up every time I attempted to take a picture. So I didn't take as many as I wanted to. When I uploaded a few of these foggy pictures, I was kind of amazed at the lomography-like quality of them. Kind of wish I had kept more of them.
Now I know that cameras+humidity=
Our house, Chateau E'lan.
View from the crow's nest.
Swimsuit: Delia's, Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters, Bag: American Eagle
All 12 of us.
I think I love this picture more than any I've ever taken.

all year long we wait for sun

Oh hello!
Sorry again for such a long absence. I was on vacation in Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks. This installment is all Virginia Beach.
Beautiful weather. There were enormous clouds everywhere, but they never obscured the sun's rays.
Our hotel.
Hi, mom!
View from the balcony.
I love palm trees. Their trunks are so strange-looking!
Wish we had some up north.
When we come to Virginia Beach, we get ice cream after every meal at the Hershey's Ice Cream Shop next to the North End Pizzaria. I highly recommend the green ice cream in the top left hand corner. Mint Moose Tracks. MMMMMMMM.
Mom and I.
POSEIDON HOLDING A SEA TURTLE?!
Dress: Target, Bag: American Eagle
Every year when we come here, we have dinner at Isle of Capri, a restaurant located on the top floor of the Virginia Beach Holiday Inn.
It is SO delicious.
They make caesar salads at your table. This year I wrote down the recipe so I can make them from scratch at home!
It's blurry, but it is still beautiful.
Ah yes, family memories.
I leave no morsel left behind.
The Outer Banks installment is coming up next!

learning things and finding things

Happy first of July!
Today is actually a much cooler day than what we've been having recently, so I'm staying in and getting tons of work done. And number one on my list is obviously a blog update. It's been kind of a while...I think it's weird when bloggers have to apologize for not posting every day, I understand that they have real lives too!
Like I said, it's been HOT. I've been doing lots of this....
And last week I broke out the popsicle mold (that had not been used in 10+ years) and made mojitopops!
Strawberries, mint, limeade, and freeze. You could add rum, but these were delicious without it.
Also, do you see the sewing machine in the background? I learned how to use it, finally! Been hemming skirts like a mad woman.
So here's my outfit.
Tank: Old Navy, Shorts: Rue 21 (hemmed)
You know, nothing special here.
Untilll.....
BAM. I found this in a long-forgotten hair accessories drawer, and I believe it was given to me as a gift about 10 years ago by my parents' friend from Brazil. I can't tell you how happy I was that I found this again. I used to wear crazy hair clips like this every day.
My boyfriend found it pretty interesting. He said it looks like a Peruvian Flute Band.
(South Park watchers should know immediately what episode he's referring to.)
So it's been a pretty nice week of learning things (how to use a sewing machine) and finding forgotten treasures (popsicle mold and my Peruvian Flute Band hair clip).
Here's to a spectacular July!

Good Morning

Hi! Sorry I've been MIA, but I've been in New Jersey.
My cousin George just graduated yesterday!
Though it was oppressively hot outside, it was a very nice ceremony.
My little cousin Marianna was a really good sport. It's not easy sitting there for two hours!
Afterwards, we had a graduation party back at my cousin's house, and I got to see my uncle start the grill with a leaf blower.
Don't try this at home, kids.

I don't write my stuff anymore, I just kick it from my head, know what I'm sayin?

Hello there!
Tube top: Hollister, Blue shirt: Calvin Klein, Shorts: Abercrombie, Necklace: Vintage, Shoes: Aerie
I think now is the first time in a long time that I'm actually content with the length of my hair. Back before I started this blog I had LONG hair. For some reason that entire summer I was dying for super, super short hair, and so I cut it over Thanksgiving up to my neck. I loved this length, but as it started to grow in it looked super awkward and I just didn't know how to style it without fussing with it.
I don't like to fuss with my hair. When it was super long, I would throw it in a bun before bedtime and call it a night.
So it's been about seven months, and my hair now hits just below my shoulders, and I like this! Finally!
Have you ever gotten a short haircut, and then months later you find yourself missing your lengthy locks?
