Now I know that "it" is simply embedded in my dna.

Haha. It amazes me the things that I scribble on a post-it in the middle of the night, when I think I come up with a really poignant thought. Yeahh. Hm.
Anyway, I attempted to do one of those "a photo for every hour of your day" yesterday for a project for my journalism class, but it kind of just made me feel really bad about myself. Yesterday I stayed in my room doing homework all day long until we went out to the movies and the bar around 7pm. It would've been kind of funny if every hour of the day was just a screenshot of the homework I was working on at that time. Huh....I should've thought of that yesterday.
Anyway. I look like crap today. But I wanted to show off the reconstruction I did on these shorts!
I remembered in the nick of time to take a before picture. WHEW. The right leg is the original length of the shorts. Cute, but not flattering on a short person like myself.
Tee: Hollister, Shorts: Reconstructed, f21, Shoes: Steve Madden, Necklace: Modcloth
Close up of my handiwork.
...Hey remember when 4:30 would roll around and it would be pitch black out? Looks like those days are behind us, folks!!! Fabulous.

thoughts and prayers.

there was a massive power plant explosion very very near my hometown today. my boyfriend's dad is a police sergeant investigating it right now, and it is just gruesome over there. my thoughts go out to the families of those who died in this horrible accident.

well if you've gots the poison i've gots the remedy

Good news! I found somewhere on campus to take pictures! It's relatively close and secluded, too! Siiigh. Thank god I got that figured out. I'll try to start taking pictures outside from now on.
Today's outfit is inspired by an outfit that Jewel wore on Ace of Cakes last night.
Tee: Victoria's Secret, Vest: Thrifted, Jeans: Hollister, Boots: Thrifted, Necklace: Anthropologie, Ring: Hippie shop.
These boots are so badass. I love them to DEATH. And they are thrifted, too! So while I'll never stick my bare feet in these things, I really appreciate the fact that they look beautiful and they are already nice and worn-in. No stiffness here. I really hate new shoes because of their stiffness. So this morning, I didn't have anything to do, (besides homework..but I can TOTALLY put that off for another day) so I went thrifting! The first time I've gone thrifting away from home! I wanted to see if Long Island thrift shops were any different from Connecticut thrift shops. Like, if the flavor was similar or different. I went to only two places, but this was the only store where I found any luck. It's in Babylon, New York, and apparently has been here for over 20 years. It's run by a woman named Mary, who has been in the vintage clothing shop business for most of her life. She was such a sweet woman. She didn't remind me too much of my own grandmothers, since she had such an enthusiasm about vintage style, that my grandmothers don't really share. I bought only one thing for $10 and I really love it. It's very unique. I will have a picture of it tomorrow maybe (its in the wash at the moment) but yay! I highly recommend this store.
PS. Today's title is brought to you by Jason Mraz's "The remedy". It was on my "thrift store shopping" playlist.

Got degrees from both Harvard and Yale

Good lord, today took a lot out of me. Luckily, Thursday marks the end of my work/school week, so from here on out, it is the WEEKEND. HALLELUJAH. I like the days that I have class far more than the days I have my internship, because there is more variety. And I happen to be taking really interesting classes this semester, so the time really does fly by.
I've been making a conscious effort to get back in touch with the people I used to be close with, but have sort of lost contact with for whatever reason. Last night, I spoke to my cousin on the phone for the first time since July, and this afternoon I went and got a bite to eat with a friend of mine who I saw very often last year, but haven't really seen since. It's such a good feeling to reconnect with people. I'm so bad at it. I definitely plan to do more of this and to follow up on both of these awesome conversations I've had.
ANYHOODLES, outfits. here they are: Short-sleeved cardigan: Calvin Klein, Striped tank: Thrifted, originally from Gap, Scarf: Little boutique from the Outer Banks, North Carolina, Jeans: Reconstructed, originally from Hollister, Shoes: Jessica Simpson Siiiiigh. What a day. Oh, and it's not over yet, believe me. I'm going grocery shopping now, then to a club meeting. I will sleep well tonight, friends.
PS. Today's title comes from the song "Kiss me, I'm Shitfaced" by the Dropkick Murphys. It was the last facebook status I saw before writing this post. I don't actually have A college degree yet, let alone one from Harvard and/or Yale. Although that is a very impressive feat. Hmm.

true blue.

Today was a long day at the office. I'm exhausted and extremely annoyed at the bad lighting in my dorm room. I apologize. When it gets warmer, I should shoot outside. I'm always finding really cool places to use as a backdrop. It will happen, someday!
On to the outfit:
Cardigan: Gap, Cami: Gap, Jeans: f21, boots: Steve Madden, Necklace: Modcloth
haha. posing next to the water fountain is the extent of my creative backdrops at the moment. ohhhh that just sad.
Necklace close-up.
So this is a pretty average outfit. But it was a very average day. So it fits. Siiighhh. I have to go grocery shopping now. I just want to go to bed. Mehh.

cashews and raisins

Siiigh. I have so much on my plate this week. I miss the weekend. I wanted to make myself a nice turkey sandwich for lunch, but much to my chagrin..and disgust..the bread had gone bad. I've only had it a week! is this normal? Ewwwwwwww.
So I had cashews and raisins for lunch..because I have no more real food. Ughhhh college food makes me sad. Cardigan: Gap, Shirt: Thrifted, Tye-dyed Ben and Jerry's tank top, Belt: J.Crew, Jeans: f21, boots: Steve Madden
I have an idea to sort of "highlight" one item in my wardrobe, like telling the story behind it or whatever. Because sooo many items in my closet have stories. Like the tye-dyed shirt I have on...I guess i'll save that for another time!!
(PS. I'm watching Giada on Food Network)
